Update! Kitchen and Home Office.

October 19, 2011 § Leave a comment

We had people over last night.

At the Edwardses, this means that there will be at least one FULL day of house projects before the guests arrive.  It might mean that we will be elbow deep in paint, wrapped like a mummy in electrical wiring, or completely covered in sawdust up to 20 minutes before they arrive. This time, I’m VERY happy to say, it was our kitchen cabinets! (Thank you Scottie!)

I know it’s strange, but I actually felt the kitchen whisper a modest “thank you” when I was making coffee this morning. It’s been overexposed for a long time now. Aside from clothing my kitchen, I cheered it up with a little fun.

I’ve also been working on my office.

Here are a few quick things, that might give you some ideas for your home office.  My office is the smallest room in the house, so I converted the closet into shelving space. (Thank you Scottie!!) Still needs to be organized, but I love the Martha Stewart color! It’s called Awning.

I bought this beat up little secretary at a garage sale for $10. Still a work in progress, but I replaced the hardware with twine and vintage spools.

I filled lots of inexpensive frames with motivational and sentimental prints. The one on the top right is a little sketch my husband did of us. I love a particular quote by Victor Hugo and did a simple layout in blue. It’s the big one in the middle. You can see it on Pinterest.

Behind the Love print is 1 Cor. 13, the one on the right is by Blanca Gomez, and the one at the bottom is my latest craze…the beautiful ampersand.

That’s it for now!  Until the next guest…

My New Kitchen!…in Photoshop

February 28, 2011 § 7 Comments

Today, I’ve been daydreaming.

I’ve been on a work strike since Friday.  I know the weekend is over, but I worked hard last week!  Scott and I went to Tampa, FL to shoot an online commercial. It was crazy, but fun.  (I’ll tell you about it soon. Or your could check it out on Scott’s blog HERE.)

Today I decided to remodel my kitchen.

Well, it’s not technically my kitchen yet, but we are set to close on the house by March 15. FINGERS CROSSED!!   Buying a house is no cake walk.

We are so excited to have a house.  It’s like YEARS of endless projects ahead!  And being someone who likes a work in progress, it’s like Christmas.

Obviously I can’t do any of the manual labor yet, so I’m dreaming. Currently, I’m leaning toward clean, but earthy design.  That might change in a few days or even a few minutes, but here is what I’ve come up with so far.

WARNING : Due to the warp tool, this photo will begin to look like it should belong in Alice in Wonderland. This blog is not liable for any spontaneous outbursts of Jabberwocky, temporary vertigo, or dreams about Mad Hatters or White Rabbits.

STAGE 1

COUNTERTOPS : We are going to go with the wonderfully inexpensive butcher block from IKEA. I grabbed a sample from google and stretched and warped it beyond recognition, but you get the idea.

SINK : I LOVE this sink…it’s also from IKEA

FLOORS : We are putting in new hardwoods when we move in. They’re going to be a bit lighter than the current floor.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe…..

STAGE 2

I’m painting all the cabinets and ceiling white and the walls a soft gray.

STAGE 3

I want to rip off some of the cabinet doors and just have open shelving. (Can’t you just see the Cheshire cat in that one on the left?!)

I also found beautiful hardware from Anthropologie…Lurrrrv at first sight

STAGE 4

LIGHTING : I found this light fixture, but am not completely sold on it.  Some kind of track lighting will be good though.  I also want to add little lights under all the cabinets.

COLORS: These are the colors that I’m working with, and I might use some material (like burlap) to make a window valance.

STAGE 5

Viewing optional: this is where the vertigo might kick in.

My wainscoting got a little out of hand…

Well, that’s what I have so far.  I’d love ANY comments, suggestions or ideas. I know there are amazing decorating gurus out there!

Now I will take advice from Caroll about this blog, my new kitchen, and hopefully my strike.

Begin at the beginning, and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Just finished a new website, for my friend Hannah.  She’s hosting The enVision Conference in September.

Check it out.

Megwards Inc. has been quite busy lately. The “Inc.” stands for all of my outstanding employees…me, myself, and I.  We take turns staying awake and being productive.

I really love this staying busy thing, so if you know anyone who needs a logo, business card, product photography or a website, let me know!

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

This logo was really fun to design.  It’s for a boutique in Oxford, Mississippi.  Check out the facebook page. Cute store!

Here is one for my friend Hannah, who is hosting a conference in the Fall.  I did the website too, although there is still a bit to go on it. (Guess I’ll have to make Myself work a little overtime. Hehehe.) I’ll post the link another day, so you can check it out.

I did a portfolio folder for a company called Power to Perform.  They go into the corporate world and give the employees exercise and a work out on company time!  Company’s love it because it helps to increase productivity. (I think Me might need to hire these guys. She’s been slacking lately.)

Power to Perform will have a brand spankin new site in a month or two. Scott is doing the videos for it, and they rock. I’ll post the link when they’re up.

The last thing I’ll show you today is my product photography. I ordered great equipment with some of my earnings from this little project. It will make the process MUCH easier.

These guys make all organic and natural products. I saw a shelf of their stuff in Sprouts the other day! I felt really big time. It’s called Lafe’s.

(The new photos aren’t up on their site yet, so don’t blame me for the one with the ghetto orange background.)

That’s enough about me, myself and I for now. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Scott has been sitting at his desk for several days creating a new website.  He has decided to move away from design and only do videos now.  His design business is called BrightGrey Studios. His current site…drum-roll please….EDWARDS MEDIA!

Hey look! It’s Sabrina!

I love how all of Scott’s projects are so unique, and so far, have been with amazing people. For the video above, people were in and out of our apartment for two days (it became the production office and one of the sets).

This video (below), was for the Heaven series at a super cool church, Shoreline. Scott and the guys had to stand in the greenbelt’s freezing cold water for a couple hours.  Scott’s clothes were caked with dirt after that shoot.

I did his laundry separately that day.

And this is Micah! Doesn’t he look happy?! He is a pretty happy guy.

And Hil-arious.

In this commercial, for an awesome Apartment Locating Company, I drove a golf cart with 6 people in it.  That was fun.

I especially loved taking direction from the director.

Scott – “Megan, floor it.”

Megan – “Okay, baby!”

Scott – “One more take.”

Megan – “Okay, chunkles.”

Scott – “I need you to turn a little sooner next time.”

Megan – “Okay, shnuggie.”

He really likes having my loving support on set. Hehehehe.

And this was the most fun weekend of all time.  We had SOOOO many great people that we worked with on this one. I was really bossy, and no one punched me. So, it was a success.

The short is called “The Fix”, and we submitted it to the 48 hour film festival. We made it in 48 hours.

I’m telling you, I saw real t-a-l-e-n-t that weekend.

The guy in the shot is Jeff Gibbs. He’s a really great actor, and plays a boxer in this short. We have a trailer up if you want to check it out.

So, go check out www.Edwards-Media.com!

Have fun, and if you want any of the “behind the scenes” stories, you know where to find me!!

P&P Paintings

January 5, 2011 § 3 Comments

Jessica is a really fun gal.  We were roommates when I was in school.  I’m not sure what we are doing here.

We lived in the very small community of Pine Log, GA.

Yep, you heard me.

Pine Log.

Jess and I went through a phase of being obsessed with Pride and Prejudice.

(The new one, with Keira Knightly. Although, we loved the old one with Colin Firth too. I think we also went through a phase of being obsessed with Colin Firth.)

Anyway, we eventually hacked the beautiful title of Pride and Prejudice to P&P, to ease our daily conversation. Because we talked about it. Often.

All this does have a point.

Lately, I’ve been working on my skills. You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills…

No Napoleon, although bow hunting might be cool…I’ve been working on my painting skills. I decided to use P&P for inspiration.  I’ve started two paintings and neither of them are finished.  I honestly don’t like them very much right now.  But, I figure that if I share them with you, it will pressure me to complete them.

Painting #1: Elizabeth

Here’s what I’m painting from

Here’s what I have so far

Aghhhh! It really kills me to do this. It’s good for my pride though.

Hmmm…ironic.

Painting #2: Lanscape

Here’s what I’m painting from

Here’s what I have so far

Welp, there ya go.  It’s not my goal to make it look EXACTLY like the photo, but I have A LOT of work to do.

At this point, I usually want to give up. Hopefully my love for P&P will drive me on.

Guessing game

When I create a logo for a client, I usually design 3 for them to choose from.  By the end, I feel like I am playing this game.

Which one do you think he chose?

1.

2.

3.

Where Am I?
